Project Description
This was a very interesting and somewhat difficult installation. There are over 1000 tiles used to fully tile this kitchen. The customer is a proffessional chef so he needed as much worktop space as possible and lots of light. Storage space is of course a big concern for anyone that likes to cook never mind a chef. One solution we came up with was to take the downstairs wet room and split it into two rooms. This was ideal for extara storage space and the customer did nt use the shower in here. We decided to build the wall in a way that caused very minimal damage. This means that the room could be returned to a wet room if needed in years to come. Because there was an existing shower in the room, we used that shower feed to feed the washing machine, giving more cupboard space in the kitchen.
As mentioned lighting is important in any installation. It doesn't just light the room for general use, it highlights features, it creates a differnt feel to a room. One of my favorite lighting features of this kitchen is the under worktop lights. This light illuminates each drawer as it opens and also lights up the handleless profile. This effect is achived by making a channel in the underside of the worktop to install an led light strip. A relatively simple task that has a huge impact.
One issue we had to be aware of on this installation was the fact that the existing upvc door had not only a very limited clearence before floor tiling but also hinges that were touching the plasterboard. This meant that when we tilied we had to leave a space for the door hinge to open into. This was less than ideal but in making it a feature buy framing this space with chrome tile trim actually created a nice feature.
Do you have a kitchen with a 'problem area'?

Customer Review
We approached Pattinson Installations Limited to install our kitchen, one we had actually had designed by Wren. They did not try to offer a new design or try to beat Wren on price as we knew the Wren kitchen is what we wanted. They were happy to install it and the finish far exceeds our expectations. The quality of the installation is of the highest standards and the feature lights installed in the underside of the worktop are next level!
