Garden-Bar

Project Description
Anyone with children will know how much time, effort and money you put into their happiness. One thing we parents do is provide places to play. This garden was one such place, a back yard made into a safe place for the children to play. What do you do when they no longer need the playhouse, or the swings or the trampoline? You take the space back! And what better way than to build a bar, the kids are growing so why not treat yourself. For this project we were given free rein to design something different and make the space a place to sit, relax and entertain.
For this we decided to go for colours and an animal theme. The walls of the bar were covered in treated timber planks with the screws hidden and a diagonal timber patteren to really add something interesting to look at. There are lights everywhere in the back yard. Lights behind the lions head canvas, lights in the front of the bar theres even lights in all of the panelling on the walls. These lights lead you down the path to the bbq 'hut'. Somewhere to cook on the bbq or pizza oven with its own neon signs and plenty of storage space.
By using plastic foliage panels and timber batterns we created a space that on a hot summers day feels like you could be on holiday. The seating was custom made to suit the space, with a curved shape to the seating it really hugs you when you sit down. When the weather is at its best, the inflatable hot tub is set up to really unwind, with a drink if you like.
Everything was designed and built by us with even the decoration soucred and set out. By using a simple slaters lathe, this project was much cheaoer than you might expect. Its amazing what can be achieved in small space.
Fancy your own garden bar?.
